Obituary for
Otta Gene Cothran
In loving memory of Otta Gene Cothran, a loving man whose life journey was full of joy and grace. Gene was born on August 22nd, 1940 in Buffalo, Texas to E.J. Cothran and Jessie Johnson.
He was a family man from an early age. He loved his parents and siblings and shared many special memories of them. He married his wife, Gwendolyn Virginia Golden and had three children - Troy, Gayle, and Clay. He was a hardworking, loving and devoted husband and father.
Gene had a strong work ethic and was always willing to work and provide for his family. He bagged groceries on his way to becoming store manager for Weingarten’s, sold mobile homes, and then settled into real estate with Victory Properties.
He lived a life full of joy and had a great sense of humor. He loved spending time with loved ones, fishing and hunting, playing card games, and spending time with his grandkids. Gene always had a smile on his face and a great story to tell. Even in times of deep valleys, he was quick to offer help and comfort to those around him. Though he may be physically absent, Gene’s love and memories live on in the hearts of his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and all of those touched by his kindness.
As we say, “See you soon” to Otta Gene Cothran, let us rest in knowing that his life of love and joy will continue to inspire and uplift those who knew him best. May he find rest, reunited with his loved ones, and all those who have gone before him.
