Obituary for
Karen Elaine Fitzsimmons (Eckols)
Karen Elaine Fitzsimmons, age 68, was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on February 5, 2024. Born in Humble, TX on March 14, 1955, she was proud of her Humble heritage and forever a Wildcat. Growing up she enjoyed the Jamborees, Good Oil Days and street dances, playing school with her sisters and loved music. She obtained an education degree from Texas Tech University and cherished the friendships and memories she made during her time in Lubbock. She followed her Red Raider sports teams her whole life. After two years teaching in Idalou, TX, she moved home and began a long career in the Humble Independent School District teaching math at the middle school level. She retired in 2011. She married Robert “Bob” Fitzsimmons on June 10, 1989 and they lived happily together until his passing in June 2018. Her joy in life was her family, especially her son, Craig. Always her baby, she loved him fiercely and when her grandchildren were born, she showed the same love and devotion. Karen loved all her family and cared so deeply for not only her grandparents, parents, siblings, but for any member of her family and her friends. She took care of many family members and friends throughout her life. Her devotion to her faith was admired by many and she always shared the love of Jesus. We know she is at peace and joyful once more. She is preceded in death by her father Charles Eckols, mother Barbara, sister Charla Wilkes, brother Charles (Chuck) Eckols Jr., husband Robert Fitzsimmons and grandson Riley Monteith. She is survived by son Craig Monteith and wife Kelley, son Michael Fitzsimmons and wife Jennifer, son David Fitzsimmons, sister Peggy Pickel, sister Jackie Baker and husband Vance, 8 grandchildren and many other family and friends.
