Obituary for Hermila Garcia Pena

Hermila Garcia Pena
Hermila García Peña ascended into heaven on Sunday, January 28th, 2024. She was born in Los Ramones, Nuevo León, México, and was the eldest of her siblings. When Hermila was a child, the family moved to La Hacienda El Carrizo, where she spent her childhood. El Carrizo is also where she met the love of her life, José. They married and had 10 children. Hermila was a dedicated housewife and loving mother, always tending to the home, the children, and making the most delicious meals from scratch. Hermila was also a very skilled seamstress, knitter, and embroiderer; she would often make special and party outfits for the family. Despite her many household activities, she would still find time to help her husband with all his business endeavors, e.g., a convenience store, a small movie theater, etc. With children always in tow, she followed her husband throughout various towns in México and the USA, always in search of better opportunities.

Hermila is preceded in death by her son José Luis, her parents Hermelinda Morales and José García, her siblings, granddaughter Salma I. Gómez, and her husband of 71 years, José Peña Díaz.

Her memory will carry on through her 9 surviving children and their spouses, 26 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren.
