Howard Paul Maddox Jr.
Howard Paul Maddox Jr. was born June 26, 1943 in Tifton, Georgia. He was the oldest born child of Howard Paul Maddox Sr and Laura Maddox. His baby sister, Gloria Redwine was his lifetime best friend. In addition, he had half siblings, Eugene, Geneva, Joann, and Joyce. He was preceded in death by both parents.
He graduated from Tift County High School. After high school, Howard was drafted into the United States Army where he served 6 years, including two tours during the Vietnam War. He was a dedicated soldier who served his country and fellow man faithfully. Howard had a very giving and caring heart, and he did all he could to help others, fight for their rights and assist them in achieving their goals.
After six years in the U.S. Army, he separated from military life and returned to civilian life. He spent a few years playing semi-professional baseball as a pitcher in St. Petersburg, Florida. Shortly afterwards, he obtained employment at People’s Gas. After working nearly a decade for the gas company, he moved to Houston, Texas and began a career in the petroleum industry at Occidental Petroleum as a chemical operator.
Howard was a man of many interests. He enjoyed working on cars, rebuilding motorcycles , taking trips in his beloved RV and taking care of his family. He enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys and was a forever fan. After retirement, he moved back to Florida and spent his golden years with his family and extended family and then relocated back to Texas.
On January 15, 2024 transpositions to eternal rest. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
