Obituary for Norma Ann Barber (Tiller)

Norma Anne Tiller Barber (January 10, 1929-January 18, 2024)

It is with deep sorrow and tears in our eyes, that we announce the passing of Norma Ann Barber, 95 and 8 days (Tomball, Texas). Norma entered into Heaven at approximately 6:30 AM while she lay resting in Tomball, Texas. She was born January 10, 1929 in Houston, Texas. She married her soul mate, Thomas William Barber August 24, 1947 in Houston, Texas. She was the daughter of Melvin B. Tiller and Lucie Flavia Block.

Her family is comforted in knowing that she was met at Heaven’s Gate by those who preceded in death, including her parents, Melvin B. Tiller and Lucie Flavia Block Tiller, her loving husband, Thomas William “Tommy” Barber, her son, Thomas Christopher Barber, her grandson, William Robert “Billy” Hopson, great grandson Cash William Muse, her siblings Aileen Sherson and Herman Tiller, brother-in-law, Robert Elton Barber, sister in laws, Valma Barber and Murrna Doris (Terry) Harden, nephew, Robert Eugene ”Robbie” Barber, John Scott Harden, great-nephew, Logan John Thomas Bush.

Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Michael Loren Barber (Dianna), Robert Arthur Barber (Marianne), daughter Valma Genoyce Blanton and brother Gregory “Butch” Tiller (JoAnne) and God Daughter Denise Henry and Donna DelValle.

Grandchildren, Kelly Barber Mollenkamp (Charles), Christine Barber Molly (Brent) Jason Barber (Leslie) Darrell Barber (Brandi), Kimberly Barber Briggs (Chris), Elizabeth Barber McEntire (Chris) Samantha Blanton, Donald Blanton (Tara) Staci Barber, Ashley Barber Newbury (John) and Cheriden ”Cher” Bailey.

Nieces and Nephews, Glen Glenn Tiller, Greg Tiller, Sherri Weeks (Jeff), Thomas Barber (Karen), Janet Barber, Karen Sherson, Jan Sherson, Linda Block, Eric Sherson & Lynn Sherson.

She had 22 great-grandchildren and numerous great nieces and nephews as well as many adopted family members along her 95-year-old life.

She was a graduate of Milby High School in 1947. She was a member of the PTA through most all her children’s school years. She was a Sunday School teacher, a girl scout leader and a den mother. She worked at Tenneco and Houston National Bank. She loved working with children and her eyes would light up at the sight of a baby or a toddler. She loved flowers and plants and her happy place was working in her yard. She loved working with her hands such as crocheting, cross stitch, embroidery, quilting and making baby blankets.

Graveside ceremony will be held Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Rosewood Cemetery 2602 S. Houston Ave., Humble, Texas 77396 (281-441-2171), followed by a Celebration of Life reception at Tomball Masonic Lodge # 1096 @ 600 Kane Street, Tomball, Texas, 77375. (281-255-2626.
