Michael Paul Degge, aged 72, of Dayton Texas, went home to be with Jesus on January 3, 2024, at HCA Kingwood Hospital. He was surrounded by his wife, kids, and grandkids.

Michael was born on October 1, 1951, to Joe and Viola Degge in Lubbock, TX.

He met his wife Janet in 1972 at the Bible Chair at Texas Tech University. They married on May 11, 1973, and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last year.

After Michael graduated from Plainview High School in 1970, he went on to study for 2 years at Texas Tech University but did not graduate at that time. He later returned and graduated with a Bachelor of Business Accounting in August 1988. After graduating with a degree in accounting, he started working at MKP-Price & Co., P.C. in December 1988, as an accountant. He became a Certified Public Accountant in February 1996, and continued to work for them for nearly 35 years. He retired in May 2023.

Michael served as a Deacon in charge of Missions at his church, Lake Houston Church of Christ, for 25 years. He was a passionate mission work and served on many mission trips to Ghana and Cameroon.

Michael loved to travel, whether it was a mission trip to Africa, a Caribbean Cruise, or a road trip. His wife, Janet, was always right beside him. In retirement, he hoped to do more traveling, and had already booked a 2 nd cruise after retirement.

Michael was preceded in death by his father Joe Paul Degge and his mother Viola Mae Degge. He is survived by his brother David Wayne Degge, his wife Janet Carol Degge, his children Aaron Michael Degge, Matthew Paul Degge, Rebekah Ann (Degge) and her husband Lincoln Ross Leatherman. He has two grandchildren, Ethan Michael Degge and Evan Gene Degge.

Services will be held at Lake Houston Church of Christ, 8003 Farmingham Rd, Humble, TX 77346 on January 13, 2024, at 11:00 am.
