James Lewis Obituary



James Howard Lewis was born in Wood County on 10-13-1931, died in Houston Tx on November 21, 202. He attended Terrel Tx elementary school, Marshall Junior High School in Houston Tx and gradated from Jeff Davis High School in Houston Tx in 1950. He also achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. He went to work at SWBT in April in 1950. He served in North Korea from August 23 1950 until June 12 1950. Serving in 2nd Battalion marine division, until March 28 WS 1952 and was discharged from active duty.



He joined the East Houston Masonic lodge in 1957, in sucussion with North Morning lodge 1960. Royal Arch operation council, commander 1963, 33rd Nov 1991. Robert Murray head of Scottisright in Houston. In 1984 he received KOICH honors from the Royal Arch.



Married to Helen Fay Rice in Houston . Tx in 1953 and together had 3 children Sandra Kay Lewis, James Howard Lewis Jr. and Michael Eugene Lewis. Divorced in 1976. He is survived by Sandra K. Lewis, Michael E. Lewis, and several grand children and great grand children.



James Lewis went on to married Sheba Jean Doyle in 1981 and Jean had 4 children, Merrill P. Doyle, Dorothy M. Doyle, Larry W. Doyle, and Michael J. Doyle and grandchildren and great grandchildren. His wife Jean proceeded him in death on August 9, 2022.



James was active in multiple Masonic organizations and Marine Core groups throughout his life. He also earned the title of one of the Choisn Few during the Korean War.
