Obituary for William Sumpter Frazier II

William Sumpter Frazier II
On June 20, 2023, William Sumpter Frazier,II was called home to be with his Lord and Savior. "Sumpter" was born August 8, 1941 in Mexia, Texas to William Sumpter Frazier and Johnie Ione (Archer)Frazier.

In high school he participated in sports and was an outstanding athlete, playing baseball, football and even played in the high school marching band. He also received the rank of Eagle Scout and Order of the Eagle. He was president of the senior class at Mexia High School and stayed connected to the community until his death. He was later named Alumni Of The Year for Mexia. Sumpter then attended Navarro Junior College and later the University of Texas at Austin where he graduated with a degree in Pharmacy. He then interned at Channel Pharmacy in Channelview, Texas where he met the love of his life, Carolyn Mae Casey who later became his wife of 58 years. He went on to work as a pharmacist at Tidelands Hospital in Channelview, Texas. While working at Tidelands Hospital, Carolyn and Sumpter had two children- Casey Rene and Kelley Shea. Sumpter then worked at Methodist Hospital in Baytown while at the same time attending South Texas College of Law where he received his Doctorate of Jurisprudence. He was in private practice as a General Practice Attorney almost 30 years. Later, he accepted a job for the Harris County Attorney's Office working with CPS over all child abuse and neglect cases. He always felt this was his true calling in service for God. In 2018 Sumpter officially retired at the age of 77 after practicing law for a total of 45 years.

Upon retirement, Sumpter loved spending time with his grandchildren. His greatest joy was seeing all of his grandchildren baptized into Christ. He loved watching the Astros, watching Longhorn Football and also watching his grandsons play baseball. Sumpter never missed any of the grandchildren's activities. As a family, we count it a true blessing, that we attended church together and ate Sunday lunches with Grandpa almost every Sunday. The life of Sumpter will live on in stories and memories he shared with everyone he met.

Sumpter is survived by his wife Carolyn Casey Frazier, his daughters Casey & husband Lloyd Aaron Irvin and Kelley & husband Kyle Westmoreland; Grandchildren - AJ and William Carson Irvin, and Walker and Claire Frazier Westmoreland; Nephews - James Casey Rains and Michael Rains; Nephew - Fred "Bubba" Compton and wife Debbie; Niece - Sharon Preslar and husband Gary; Sister-In-Law Debbie and husband Jimbo Rains and Brother-In-Law Carl and wife Sheran Casey.
Sumpter is proceeded in death by his parents, William Sumpter and Johnie Frazier and his sister, Marita Compton.

Sumpter will always be remembered as a man who loved the Lord with all his heart, led a life of absolute integrity, loved to laugh and made others laugh with him, never met a stranger and always made everyone feel special. He was the epitome of what a faithful servant of the Lord should be as well as a godly husband, father and grandfather - and we will miss him and cherish him deeply!

Thank you to all of our friends, family and church who celebrate Sumpter with us today and every day as we move forward!
