Obituary for
Manuel Arce
Manuel Garza Arce, 89, passed away on December 26, 2019 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s at his home in Atascocita, Texas. He was born on July 1, 1930 to Marcelino and Tomas Arce in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico. Manuel proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean conflict and was honorably discharged with a service connected disability. In 1954, he became a Naturalized Citizen of the United States. He then married Teresa Flores in 1956 and they lived happily until her sudden passing in December 2009. He was a lifelong supporter of the Boys and Girls Club of America.
Manuel is survived by all of his loving children, Elvia Jaggers and Husband Don of Moline, Illinois; Manuel Arce Jr. of Houston, Texas; Cynthia “Cindy” Roberts of Atascocita, Texas; Leroy Arce and wife Carmen of Davie, Florida; Veronica Salinas and husband Richard of Atascocita, Texas; David Arce and wife Erica of Leaque, Texas; and Gilbert Arce and wife Damis of Pearland, Texas. He is also survived by his siblings, Homer Arce, and Emma Arce Paez, both of Laredo, Texas; 29 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and numerous other family members and friends.
Manuel is preceded in death by his wife, Teresa Arce; parents Marcelino and Tomas Arce; sister, Alicia Arce Rendon; grandsons, Anthony Arce, Jason Sawvell, and Jim Jaggers; and great-grandson, Tiger.
Visitation will be held Thursday, January 2, 2020 from 5pm – 8pm at Rosewood Funeral Home located at 17404 West Lake Houston Parkway, Atascocita, Texas.
The Mass of the Resurrection will be held Friday, January 3, 2020 at 8am at St. Puis V Catholic Church located at 824 Main Street, Pasadena, Texas. The Rite of Committal ceremony will be immediately following at Houston National Cemetery in Houston, Texas.
In Lieu of flowers donations may be made in Manuel’s honor to the charity of your choice.
