Ms. Brown was born on June 20, 1941 in Houston, Texas to parents, Charlie Sherman and Felma (Raney) Jones. In early 1972, she adopted her one and only daughter, Rebecca. Charlene spent many years doing clerical work, finally retiring at age 62. She loved to go camping; her favorite place was camping anywhere close to a lake. She was most proud of her four grandchildren, Brittnee, Aaron, Jaymee, and Jared, and her two great-grandchildren, Tristan and Claire, with Claire being born on her great-grandmother’s birthday, June 20th. Her youngest grandson has passion for the weather that was instilled in him by Charlene from a very young age, so much that he plans on attending college after high school graduation next year to study meteorology. Her hobbies included watching PBS and the History Channel, taking care of her potted plants and flowers, and spending time with family. After battling major health problems this year, Charlene was called home to Heaven on December 26, 2019.
Survivors include her sister, Susan Miller of Zwolle, LA; daughter, Rebecca Junghans and husband Alan of Deer Park, TX; her grandchildren, Brittnee Broussard of Port Neches, TX, Aaron Broussard of Gold Bar, WA, Jaymee Broussard of Pasadena, TX, Jared Leger of Deer Park, TX; great-grandchildren, Tristan and Claire Garner of Port Neches, TX; and her friend of over 30 years, Charles Piggford of Pattison, TX.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sisters, Doris Jones, Betty Jones Williams, and Billie Jo Young.
Mrs. Brown will be escorted to her final resting place by pallbearers: Charles Piggford, Alan Junghans, Aaron Broussard, and Jared Leger.
