The Hunt

My daddy and Michael's daddy were brothers. One day daddy took me hunting down by White Oak creek behind Ollie Massie's place. Daddy wanted to get a hog and he put me up in a tree to wait for him to return. About 1/2 hour went by and I heard something coming through the forest right in my direction. It sounded like a freight train breaking branches and crackling the leaves.... I was pretty scared having all kinds of imaginations running through my mind thinking it had to be a bear or an elephant making that kind of noise. I had a long gun but I didn't know if it would take care of a bear! Closer and closer it came and I was trying to be still as a mouse and not even take a breath.....all of a sudden it was right down below the tree branch I was perched on...and low and behold it was my cousin, Michael McShan standing there. So after I calmed down a little my devious mind decided to take revenge and I hollered out at him and he jumped about 2 feet in the air it scared him so bad....we had a good laugh that day and I have always remembered the day I went hunting with daddy and came home with a funny story.
