Obituary for
Kenneth Earl Thurman II
On January 7, 2018 Kenneth E. Thurman, II of La Porte, Texas was called home to be with our Lord and Savior. Ken was born in Ponca City, Oklahoma on July 2, 1957. In 1975 he graduated from Fort Smith, Arkansas where he was on the swim and wrestling team. He then attended Tulsa University where he was on the football team. Ken met his wife of 33 years, Debra Thurman in 1983. They enjoyed life to the fullest until he was called home. Ken and Debra enjoyed three lovely children together.
He was employed by Chevron and throughout his 31 years, he was recognized for many achievements and recognitions until he came to his senses and retired.
Ken certainly enjoyed a great deal of personal hobbies which included spending time with his grandchildren, hunting, golf, riding his motorcycle and having his own personal free-day known as “Sunday Funday” on his rides to wherever his heart took him.
Ken is preceded in death by his Father and Mother, Kenneth Earl Thurman and Doris Nadine Thurman. Ken is survived by his wife Debra, children; Shawna Clark and husband Taj, Ashley Strother and husband Patrick and Kenneth Thurman III (Trey) and wife Allie; Grandchildren Noah, Ayla, Kaylyn, Madyson and Lane,; Brother, Mike Thurman and wife Sherri; Cousin, Jay Thurman and wife Louise
Ken was much more than a husband, father, grandfather, sibling, and friend, most importantly he was a Servant Leader. Ken served his family while simultaneously being a true and consistent leader. He cherished all of his family, and his only brother made being a sibling worthwhile. They loved and cherished each other. His beautiful legacy will continue to speak volumes. Ken loved to ride his motorcycle and be free as the wind. Now Ken truly is part of the wind that he once adored and will be with his Lord and Savior forever. Keep soaring Ken until we meet again. WE LOVE YOU
