None of you know me and I am very sorry for your loss. My wife and I just returned from a vacation in Italy and our tour stopped at the Florence US cemetery on June 19th. Dad, The difference between a DAD and a father is the true eternal love a dad has for HIS children. Even though there were so many miles between you and the four of us your love was felt, just as I know you felt ours. We spent a lot of birthdays and Father's Day apart but never missed our phone calls. When it came to the greater things in life like your Roasting we were there, when it came to my wedding you were there.... oh my the memories we have of all the Thanksgivings we had together...and putting up our Christmas tree like we did. Me and the boys were looking through the pictures of us doing it and all we could do was laugh at the memories. My point DAD is that even though we weren't together as much as a conventional family are, due to the high amount of miles between all of us, in our hearts we were. The love we all felt was always there and will always be. I will miss our phone calls and hearing your voice although I do have the recording on my phone of you calling me last year on my birthday that I didn't erase it and now never will because I never want to forget that deep demanding strong voice that you had before you turned so weak. I hate what you went through at the end but I am glad it is over for you as I know it is not the way you wanted to live. Dad please remember that even though you physically aren't with us you will be missed tremendously and loved deeply forever. More than any words can ever express. I hope you are having a great Father's Day, with your REAL DAD and with your absolutely wonderful other DAD who never failed you either. Tell them all hello for us and give grandma and grandpa a kiss for me. The pain that is felt over the loss of you and grandma is absolutely excruciating and there isn't a day that goes by that a tear isn't dropped but please remember DAD that when your looking down on me that those tears are for the love I have for you and will never fail you. I love you DAD and I hope your Father's Day is as special this year as you are. Happy DAD's day! I love you!

I am so deeply sadden that I lost my stepdad. He was Absolutely an Amazing, Caring, Loving, Understanding Dad. My life has changed the day he walked into it, and will be forever changed now that he is gone. I remember you teaching me how to drive your elcamino, being a loving grandpa to my kids and walking down the isle and giving me away at my wedding. I am so blessed and grateful that he was/is/and will always be a part of my life. For those of you that had a chance to meet or be a part of his life is truly blessed. I am deeply saddened by the loss of our Dad a short time ago, we are all still hurting inside. We miss him more than words can say, the heartache of losing him will never go away. We love him more than he will ever know or some may ever realize. He will be forever in our hearts to stay as he always has been. Dad knows that we all love him and we still really care. We cannot tell him this anymore now that he’s not there. We all have our personal memories that we will always cherish and regrets that the miles between us had to be so many. I was blessed to have had 2 fathers. My biological father passed and Dick stepped in to pick up where he left off. Dick taught me how to have respect for myself and to work hard. I was truly blessed to have Dick give me away at my wedding and dance the father daughter dance with me. It was a wonderful day and I am glad he was there to spend it with us I found this poem written by Unknown about a dad and it describes mine perfectely

What Is A Dad?

A dad is someone who

I am so sorry for the loss of my step father, Dick. He was an awesome man, smart, funny, loving, and compassionate, all in his own unique way. I'm honored to have called him dad. I am comforted to know that he is with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It says in Psalm 119:50 "This is my comfort in my affliction, For Your word has given me life". I know that Dick has a new life and a new body with Christ and that brings me comfort. I believe that God doesn't give us the people we want, (we just don't know we want them yet) he gives us the people we need. To hurt us, to help us, to leave us and to love us, all to make us the people we are meant to be. Those we love don't go away, they walk beside us every day.
