Story shared: Sandy Man http://rosewoodfuneralhome.frontrunnerpro.com/runtime/177733/runtime.php?SiteId=177733&NavigatorId=835094&ItemId=2713372&op=tributeFamilyStories&viewOpt=dpaneOnly&gid=story6634614 It's hard to know where to start regarding a story on Sandy T as there are so many of them.   Sandy was truly one of a kind.  The mold was broken after he was made.   I knew Sandy for 30 years while in the Coast Guard having served with him on several occasions.   I remember his good heartedness during CG family days at the unit when he would come dressed as a clown and performed magic tricks for the children.  Sandy loved the Coast Guard and would seek any opportunity to serve on active duty.  He took a keen interest in getting the younger members qualified on the shooting range. He was always volunteering to coach those shooters who needed some personal attention in order to qualify at the range.

I also knew of him outside of the Coast Guard.  I encouraged him to join our local VFW post and he remained a member until his passing.  A fellow VFW comrade and I visited him in his home a couple of months ago to present him with an award from our VFW Post 12075.

I, my wife and several of our neighbors attended his Concealed Handgun Courses to become qualified.

I also remember Sandy inviting a few of us Coasties to a dance where he was a member of the band playing the organ.  The 4 Coasties all ordered a beer and brought it back to the table.  Everyone in the dance hall started to stare at us with consternation.  You see Sandy forgot to tell us that it was an Alcoholics Anonymous one year sobriety celebration.  We went back to coca cola after we figured out what was what.

Sandy Tomaselli:  A Man Of Many Hats and a Big Heart Of Gold.  May he have fair winds and following seas.

Story shared: Sandy the true patriot http://rosewoodfuneralhome.frontrunnerpro.com/runtime/177733/runtime.php?SiteId=177733&NavigatorId=835094&ItemId=2713372&op=tributeFamilyStories&viewOpt=dpaneOnly&gid=story6634437   I've known Sandy for over 20 years. What a facinating life he led. For his service to his country, he first joined the Marines, then joined the Air Force, and finally ended up in the Coast Gaurd, where he finally retired as a Chief Petty Officer. But that was'tn enough for Sandy. He had to continue to serve the citizens of Harris Co., and joined the Harris County Constibles office, Prct.3, until recent retirement from there. Sandy was also very interested in the History of Texas. He often said I was'nt born in Texas, but I got here (from New Jersey}, as quick as I could. He was a Captain in the Civil Air Patrol, a Colonel in the Texas Army, & an Admiral in the Texas Navy. In his spare time, he was a Conceled Handgun Instructor, Karate Grand Master, with a PHD in martial arts, an excelent General Contractor, and occasional Big Foot Monster Hunter. What a good friend, and true patriot. He will be missed. - Adm. John W. Martin
