During one training session we had in Florida my wife (Becky), Terry and me when out to eat, during the meal he kept placing crab craws on the table.  Finally I ask him “what’s up with the crab craws”?   He said “I’m counting how many Lobsters your wife is eating”.  In typical Terry fashion he shared the actual count to the entire class the next day.

You will be missed, but not forgotten, rest well brother.

Story shared: Chickens!! http://rosewoodfuneralhome.frontrunnerpro.com/runtime/177733/runtime.php?SiteId=177733&NavigatorId=835094&ItemId=2263090&op=tributeFamilyStories&viewOpt=dpaneOnly&gid=story5481952 Oh boy, where do I start with some of the “interesting” times we had during our Contract Administration days.  I have many fond memories of that period.  Terry was very generous and giving and upon learning that my Mom had a thing about loving to cook fresh chickens (I guess it’s an Asian thing), he took me to a chicken farm near Channelview.  Because I was terrified of these live creatures running everywhere, Terry would chase for me to try to get the plumpest chickens there.  I will never forget the vision of Terry going after the chickens in an attempt to make sure my Mom got what she wanted.  We had so many good times, the friendship we made as a team was unquestionable and we all genuinely got along.  Most of all, I will never forget the things Terry taught me as a Contract Administrator.  I will miss you dearly my friend.

Story shared: One-of-a-Kind! http://rosewoodfuneralhome.frontrunnerpro.com/runtime/177733/runtime.php?SiteId=177733&NavigatorId=835094&ItemId=2263090&op=tributeFamilyStories&viewOpt=dpaneOnly&gid=story5481949 Probably the best thing about being around Terry was that you didn't need to spend a great deal of time trying to figure out what he was thinking; chances were pretty good that he would just blurt out whatever was on his mind...the man had no filter! I, like a lot of others, appreciated his candor and honesty - although there were times when his tendency to share just a little "TMI" was followed by awkward silence while the rest of us digested whatever beans he had just spilled. That tendency to share spilled over into other areas of Terry's life and sphere of influence. I missed working with him when he retired and, even though we spent far too little time together over the past couple of years, I feel a fond and profound sadness knowing that he has passed on. Terry, you were a good friend...rest in peace and we'll see you on the other side. Skip & Gabby Greenwade

Poor air circulation had been a problem with the men's restroom and Terry seemed determined to push the system to its limits. Finally, the maintenance folks installed a new vent and it was quickly named the "Nittka 3000 TurboVentilator". Terry was quite pleased that he was responsible for the new vent, and was honored with naming rights and a sign to go with it. He would show it off to unwitting co-workers by grabbing them in the hallway and taking them into the men's restroom.

Another story that baffles me but reflects Terry in his true form. Terry was scheduled for a routine colonoscopy, and it wasn't his first. Terry had calculated when he was to start taking the 'cleansing medicine' to be ready for his early morning appointment. Instead of going home to begin the process, he started it at work. At some point it hit him that his office was not the place to do this, so he headed home. Shortly after he left I got a call from Terry stating that he forgot the rest of his 'medicine' in his office, and was not able to come back to the plant to get it. He asked that I bring it to him at a location closer to his house. He also asked me to bring some paper towels and other cleaning supplies. This did not sound good. As I pulled into the parking lot, Terry was already there with his windows down and both hands clenched to the steering wheel. Neither of us got out of our cars. I tossed his medicine and supplies into the back window. Not a word was said that day, but was the topic of conversation for a long time...

Terry had a soft spot for kids. My sons enjoyed spending time with Terry, mainly because they were never sure what he was going to say or do, and to some extent they spoke the same language. Terry had given us a dingy from his sailboat after it was sold. The boys spent time navigating the bayous and creeks with the 2.5 HP motor on it. It didn't have reverse so it was always exciting trying to maneuver around fallen trees and narrow passages. The boys had fun as well trying to get Terry and Susan's birds to tak and playing with the dogs. Nothing but good memories

Story shared: Safe journey my friend http://rosewoodfuneralhome.frontrunnerpro.com/runtime/177733/runtime.php?SiteId=177733&NavigatorId=835094&ItemId=2263090&op=tributeFamilyStories&viewOpt=dpaneOnly&gid=story5481805 Terry and I met many years back (25+ years ago) when he became warehouse supervisor for Channelview.  He was a hardworking man with a great sense of humor.  He was your boss when he was at work and your friend when he was away from the job.  My favorite memory of Terry (and Susan) was when Gina Chambers and I attended his Chili cook-off where his Yacht was docked.  Gina and I were supposed to be going Christmas shopping that day and was just going to stop by for a quick greeting and then off to shopping we would go.  We got there around noon that day and did not leave until about 3 am.  Needless to say I had a lot of explaining to do when I got home lol.  I have never laughed so hard or had that much fun as I did with Terry and Susan.  It was (and still is) one of my best memories of a great day of fun and laughter.

I will never forget the impact Terry had on me early in my career. Terry came across to some as being brash I found it to be total confidence and compassion to his profession. Terry was there to mold and shape anyone willing to follow suit. I'm appreciative that Terry showed a great interest in me and my family and even provided my young son at the time a famed "Terrible Towel" .

Go rest high on that mountain sir!
