My family and I feel so blessed to have known Mrs. Edith. We are so grateful for everything that her and her family have done for us. Mrs. Edith touched our hearts and made a difference in our lives. She certainly brightened our lives and the lives of those that knew her. I met Mrs. Edith when I was a little girl and my mom worked for her and her daughter. Since my mom and I have the same name, she always called me Little Norma. I remember that one of my favorite things to do in the summer was to go with my mom to their house. I enjoyed going with my mom so that I could listen to all the wonderful and funny stories that Mrs. Edith would share with me. She would tell me stories about her family and about how life used to be when she was younger. I also enjoyed watching my mom when she was doing Mrs. Edith’s hair and helping her put her jewelry on. She definitely loved getting “all dressed up”. I remember her telling me that girls should always look their best! She was so cute, even when she wasn’t feeling well, she still wanted to make sure that her hair, makeup, and nails looked good. Mrs. Edith was beautiful both on the inside and out. She was also very sweet and always put a smile on my face. Every time that we saw each other she would tell me that I was so smart and beautiful. We miss and love her so much. She was like another grandmother to me. My kids also enjoyed going to visit her. They always said that she was so nice and funny. Some of our favorite memories are when we would sit in her room listening to her stories and looking at the lake from her bedroom window. Mrs. Edith would ask my kids how they were doing in school and always encouraged them to do their best. Mrs. Edith will always be in our hearts. Our hearts feel broken right now. She was such a wonderful lady that will always be remembered and loved.

This is what we will always remember about Edith. She always had a smile & an enthusiastic greeting when you came over. I can hear the "How are you doing Roy?!" (she may have liked Roy a smidgen more). Edith would joke about having a cold beer & encourage you to have one. Edith was ageless & fun-loving. I remember when Mike, Kathy & Edith took us to Kim-Son for Meghan's high school graduation. Edith told us what made the fortune cookies even funnier. She always liked a good laugh. We will miss her.

Dear Kathy, I'm so sorry to hear about Edith's death. Although you are surrounded by friends & family, as your across-the-street neighbor, I stand ready to help in any way that you might need. Forrest & I plan to come to her funeral mass, but it occurs to me that if you're looking for someone to watch or be in your house on Wednesday, we'd be happy to do that instead.
