The thing I remember the most about Joe was how he always had a joke to share and as I recall he laughed the loudest. It didn't matter if he had told the joke or if someone else told it he was the first to laugh even if he blew the punch line. He was a "Mighty" man who brought love and laughter wherever he was and he will be greatly missed on this earth.

Lesa, Angela,and Jennifer... Joe brings back such joyous memories of basketball camps. He left his imprint in the minds and hearts of our daughters. He instilled such determined work ethics to all who encountered him. Our prayers are with you.

My Deepest Sympathy's and Prayers go out to Lesa, Children, Grandkids, and Family. As a "North-Sider", Classmate, and long-time Friend, we have lost a Dear and Honorable Man. I have so many fond memories of this Giant of a Man. Those memories will live on. Joe did it right!! Accomplishments are many, a Man that was deeply respected by all. In our busy lives, I only regret not staying in closer touch. May God Bless !!

I remember when I was 6 and Uncle Joe came for his first visit to Colorado after we moved here. He pulled up to the house on his Kawasaki 1000, a big, red, beautiful motorcycle that fit him just perfectly...my mom called him "Big Red." The first thing he did was put me on the motorcycle and drive me around the neighborhood. I held on tight and he went as slow as he could possibly go without falling over. He talked my parents into getting me my first dog on that trip and just after he left, I came home with a black lab puppy.

My mom adored her baby brother. Phone calls from him would brighten up her day and when she struggled with her illness the phone calls gave her hope. She would hear his voice and start crying because she missed him so much and by the end of the phone call she would be laughing louder and harder than she had in a long time.

When my mom was in the final stages of her battle with congestive heart failure, he comforted me. My mom was in one hospital and my dad was in another recovering from having a cancerous tumor removed. He was the voice in the darkness for me, never promising that everyone would be okay but reassuring me that he was there. I hadn't talked to him in a long time when he passed, but his presence was always felt.

I know Joe had many accomplishments and had many friends. He was a amazing husband,daddy,and papa. To me he will always be that crazy uncle that would grab you by your feet and hang you upside down and tickle you till you dropped your twizzlers. Or "an A for a dozen chocolate chip cookies" the matching smile and gleam in those blue eyes that matched my dads. Too many 3 pointers and rebounds to count. May you find some peace and comfort to know he is in the loving hands of the lord and with his mom brothers and sister now. My love thoughts and prayers Sherri

Had to share this. Didnt know Coach Curl personally, but his wife was my teacher in 3rd grade and she was one of the greatest teachers I ever had. She let it be known that she would never give up on any of us and showed us she really cared. She used to have her husband come and talk to me because she knew I loved basketball so he and players would come speak to me. I remember thinking he was one of the greatest men in the world because even to a third grader, he gave it to me straight all the time. He let me know what would happen to me one day if I didnt straighten up but he also let me know he would continue checking on my progress and he did. I remember him promising me tickets to a game if I could go two weeks without gettin in trouble. Now I NEVER got those tickets because I couldn't go two days bit as a man of his word he checked on me like he said. My prayers go to Mrs. Curl and her family. This was a great man...

My Uncle Joe walked me down the asile as he said 2 me if you trip I will let you fall as he smiled and held me tighter. Than when he gave my hand 2 Greg he said if you hurt her I will break your legs than he gave Greg a wink. Latter Greg said 2 me I know he would. There is not enough words to Thank Joe for all he has done for me and our family. May he rest in peace. I love you with all my heart.
