Obituary for
Cecil Sherrill Ford
Cecil Sherrill Ford, formerly from Humble, TX, peacefully passed away the morning of February 3, 2021. His wife of 68 years Patsy Lomax Ford was by his side, along with the love and support of his dear family.
Cecil was one of four children born to Catherine Pearl and Cecil Lewis Ford on July 23, 1932 in Cotton Gin, TX. At the age of 16, he graduated from Charles Bender High School, Class of 1949, where he lettered in football, basketball and track. He attended Stephen F. Austin State University, where he played football and basketball, and graduated with a BBA degree and minored in history. On December 23, 1952, Cecil married his longtime sweetheart, Patsy Lomax. He served in the US Navy Reserves and later in the US Army at Fort Bliss, El Paso, TX.
Cecil led a successful 35 year-career with W-K-M Valve Division, ACF Industries, where he became District Manager in Dallas and later Regional Manager in Houston. He was a faithful member of Sugarland Baptist Church and the Cornerstone Sunday School Class. Cecil will most be remembered for his “Best All Around” friendliness, kindness to others, and devotion to God and his family. His favorite activities included golfing, hunting, family vacations and playing card games of spades and gin rummy with his grands!
He is preceded in death by his parents and younger brother Shelburne Ford. He is survived by his wife Patsy, his three daughters: Sheryl Waggoner, Lea Ann Holmes and husband Joel Flores, Shelly and husband Troy Conover, and was incredibly adored by his grandchildren: Kathryn Waggoner, Karaline and Kevin DuBois (and great-granddaughter Kennedy), Hannah and Duncan Gwynn, Madelyn Holmes, Courtney Conover, Blake Conover and Avery Conover.
He is also survived by his sister Doris and husband H.G. Andrews, brother Billy Ford and wife Beverly, sister-in-law Pat Ford, and seven nephews and one niece: Wesley Ford, Cecil L. Ford, Scott Ford, Robert Andrews, John Andrews, Craig Andrews, Adam Andrews and Stephanie McKinley.
A heartfelt thank you goes to the many doctors and healthcare workers who cared for him throughout the years.
