Obituary for Ed Letscher

Ed Letscher
Carl Edward Letscher (“Ed”) took his final breath on January 11, 2020, surrounded by the love of his life, Debbie Letscher, and his loving stepson, Eric Devroe, after a courageous 15 month battle with cancer treatment at MD Anderson.

Ed received a business degree from Rice University and a Master of Economics from the University of Houston. He went on to become a Certified Public Accountant and worked for Exxon Mobile for 32 years in multiple states as well as in Norway and Libya. An extremely dedicated and disciplined worker, Ed never took a sick day in all his years at Exxon.

In his younger years he was an avid tennis player. More recently he loved to dance, “putter” around the house and garden, and fixing anything that was broken. He also enjoyed his cars, especially both of his 55 Chevy’s.

He was an avid traveler and loved vacationing with his wife, as well as stepson, stepdaughter and grandchildren, whom he loved as if they were his own.

He was a kind, gentle, humble, and compassionate man, leaving behind many family and friends to forever cherish their memories of him.

Among many others, he is survived by his loving wife, Debbie Letscher, brother Jon (Barbara) Letscher, stepson, Eric (Fiona) Devroe, stepdaughter Teresa (Michael) Brown and his 12 adoring grandchildren.

Ed’s celebration of life service will be on February 15, 2020, at 2:00pm at the Rosewood Funeral Home in Porter.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift to MD Anderson or The American Cancer Society, in his memory.
