Obituary for Mack Wendell Shaw

Mack Wendell Shaw, beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend passed away on December 26, 2018 at the age of 71 years.
The eldest of five children born to Ollie Mack and Mazella Shaw, Mack was raised in Huntsville, TX and enlisted in the US Army at an early age. After being honorably discharged from proudly serving his country, he moved to Houston, TX and began a long career with the Veterans Administration. Mack found great purpose and honor in serving his fellow veterans and did so with great pride.
Mack continued to live a life of service after his retirement. He was active in several service-based organizations including New Horizons and NARFE (National Active and Retired Federal Employees Associations) and he also served on the executive board of the Rotary Club of East Montgomery County. Mack also especially enjoyed traveling and visited many places here and abroad.
Mack is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Leona (ne Godwin), son Tarvis Shaw; daughters Tyalka Stewart, Taishi Ligon (Brandon), and Teriaja Shaw; grandchildren Samari, Savien, Saxton, Dayton, Boston, and Maxwell; mother Mazella McIver; sisters Secceter Beckman, Lottie Lynch (Leo) and Luvenia Berry, several aunts and uncles, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Mack was truly one-of-a-kind; he was a gracious, selfless, and generous man who made an impression on everyone he met. He truly was a gift from God to his family and to all who loved him. He will be deeply missed but he leaves an admirable legacy to remember and celebrate.
