Dorothy O Purcell (Oliver)
Dorothy Oliver Purcell, age 92, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 in Humble, TX, while surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Franklin Springs, Georgia to William Harrison Oliver and Lela Ann (Woodward) Oliver. Growing up, Dorothy loved playing basketball, which is where she first caught the eye of Harold Clinton Purcell. During his service in WWII, Harold and Dorothy communicated through love letters that she has kept to this day. Following his return from service, the two were married on September 10, 1947 in Atlanta, Georgia. They had one daughter, Cynthia and two sons, Kenneth and Keith. Due to Harold’s work,the family moved several times but settled down in Kingwood, TX where she has resided since 1974. Dorothy was involved in the community, she was an active member and later an honorary member of the Forest Cove Garden Club, a previous member of Forest Cove Baptist Church and an active member of Unity Baptist Church. Left to honor and remember her love and laughter are her daughter Cynthia Wagner (Joel Barnett), two sons: Keith Purcell, Ken (Becky) Purcell, daughter-in-laws: Becky Purcell and Marty Purcell, Grandchildren: Laura (Gerry), Nicholas (Lindsay), Michael, Caroline, Tyler (Michelle), Stephanie, Clint (Kaitlin), Zachary and MacKenzie, Great- grandchildren: Eli, Mayson, Gunner, Aurora and Hunter, and Siblings Burton (Phyllis) Oliver and Evelyn Ethridge. Dorothy was preceded in death by her loving husband of 47 years, Harold C. Purcell, son-in law Steve Wagner, parents William and Lela Oliver and many brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. Dorothy will be remembered for the love she had for her family, storytelling, coffee and reading the paper. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 29th, 2018 at 12:00pm at Rosewood Funeral Home located at 2602 South Houston Avenue, Humble, TX 77396. Burial will follow immediately after at Rosewood Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Sunday, October 28, 2018 from 2:00pm-5:00pm at Rosewood Funeral Home.
