James William Page
James William Page, 68, of Porter went to be with his Lord Monday, October 1, 2018. He was born Tuesday, July 25, 1950 to Andrew and Dora Page. James is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his siblings, Linda Pickens and husband Tony, Eve Onesi and husband Jack, Andy Page, David Page, Robyne Koch, Tina Peet and husbamd Allan, Sharon Cole and Nate Williams; and many other family members and friends. A visitation will be held Sunday, October 7, 2018 at Rosewood Funeral Home in Porter from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Monday, October 8, 2018 at Rosewood Funeral Home in Porter. Interment will follow at Rosewood Memorial Park North, in Porter, Texas.
James fought several wars, living life to its fullest, going off to the US Navy in 1968 serving a few years and then transferring to the US Army Calvary and Air Assault division for the next 20 years. Spending time in Korea, Iraq, (Desert Storm) protecting his love for his country and family.
James received a National Defense Service medal, Asia Service Medal, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait Liberation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Air Assault badge and overseas service ribbon.
James is survived by 3 brothers and 4 sisters whom are all grateful for his service. It’s a tragic loss for the family to lose a big brother so early in life as well friends to many.
James fought the battle of Lung Cancer (Mesothelioma) he contracted in the Navy in 1968. Since 2011 James has gone through many radiation and chemo treatments. Doctors indicated he only had a few years to live, but James being the warrior he was, he continued fighting the battle for many years after that, ultimately succumbing to his death. His doctors were amazed to see him still alive when he went to his doctor appointments.
After retirement from military James worked as a hot shot driver for many years for himself as well as Morrison Supply where he worked till the age of 65. Also, during that time James joined Cowboy shooting club (Single Action Shooting Society) know as SASS club. James had a fascination for cowboy history and old 18th century guns.
It’s been said that James is resting high on a mountain getting the rest he deserves.
