Maxine Jewel Patton (Thornton)
Maxine Jewel Patton, age 82, of Porter, Texas passed away Friday, August 10, 2018 at Kingwood Hospital.
She was born July 18, 1936 in Houston, Texas, to parents William “Dude” Thornton and Jewel Harding Thornton. On September 2, 1955, she married Darwin Clyde Patton and they had 3 children. Maxine loved spending time with her family. She loved little animals. She had a big heart and was always trying to help someone. She took care of her ill mother for 2 and half years until her death and later also took care of her ill brother Larry Thornton until his death. She was a wonderful wife, mother and friend to many and will be missed dearly. After the death of her daughter Judy, she took up painting and other crafts that brought out her artistic side. Even though she was house bound she kept up with the church through DVDs from the church library. For many years when her health was failing, her husband Darwin, was her faithful caretaker and friend.
Maxine is survived by her beloved husband of almost 63 years, Darwin Clyde Patton and children Dellene Lavery, son-in-law Robert Lavery, Darwin “Bubba” Patton Jr. and daughter-in-law Sandra Patton. Grandchildren, Andy and Tara Lavery. Sister, Tommie Daves and brother-in-law Alfred Daves. Special and adored pet “Baby”. She was preceded in death by parents, William and Jewel Thornton and daughter, Judy Patton.
Funeral Services will be held at Gospel Assembly Church at 548 S. Houston Ave. Humble, Texas 77338 on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. officiated by Brother Gary Wright. Gravesite 3:00 P.M. at Bath Cemetary, Huntsville, Texas.
